Audio Timers are basically glorified alarm clocks. Indeed most are based on the very same chips and circuits used in your bed side clock radio.
Of course, back when HiFi didn’t contain a plethora of digital displays and micro controllers if you wanted to record a radio program you needed a mains timer switch. These devices did the job and were aesthetically designed to fit in with your system
The main switch just give on, off and time modes. In practice I mainly use it as a clock and the main power switch for my system. Very occasionally I have used the sleep timer.
This one was an e-bay purchase. It needed some attention to fit a modern IEC socket and a bit of a clean up.
Don’t try this at home
